Hockey Returns to Topeka – FPHL Expansion

The Federal Prospects Hockey League has announced four neutral-site games to take place in Topeka, Kansas this season, as the Danville Dashers, Baton Rouge Zydeco, and the Port Huron Prowlers will play in Topeka’s Stormont Vail Events Center.

The Danville Dashers will be the “home” team for all four games, but will first take on the Zydeco on January 24th and 25th. The following weekend will see the Dashers take on the Prowlers, with both teams temporarily rebranding to historic Topeka franchises.

Danville will rebrand to the Topeka Scarecrows that weekend, with the Prowlers becoming the Topeka RoadRunners, and both teams wearing throwback jerseys. The Scarecrows played in the Central Hockey League from 1998 until 2001, followed by the USHL from 2001 until 2003. The RoadRunners were part of the NAHL from 2007 through 2018, before rebranding to the Pilots.

Additionally, it was announced that the FPHL would be expanding to Topeka for the 2025-26 season, with a three-year agreement finalized and an option for a fourth year.
