The Oklahoma Warriors of the NAHL have announced new ownership, introducing George Chalos as the team’s new owner. Chalos takes over the team after previous owner, Mary-Anne Choi, sadly passed away during the 2023-24 season.
Chalos has previously served as the head coach and general manger of the Junior Islanders in the MJHL and the New York Bobcats of the AJHL. In 2017, Chalos became owner of the Long Beach Sharks of the NA3HL.
Chalos was named as an Associate Coach of the University of Utah ACHA team in 2020, and serves as a board member for the Park City Ice Minters youth hockey program.
“Having the opportunity to acquire the Warriors and to continue the good work Mary Anne started is a dream come true,” Chalos was quoted through the Warriors’ Facebook page. “I have been waiting for the right opportunity in the North American Hockey League and specifically in the South Division for a long time. There is no place better than Oklahoma City and there is no place I’d rather be. I can’t wait to get started and bring the Robertson Cup back to Blazers Ice Centre.”
The Warriors will look to rebound in 2024-25 after being knocked out in the first round of the NAHL playoffs against the El Paso Rhinos.
