Chicago Wolves and Carolina Hurricanes Agree To Affiliation Thru 2026-27

Announced today, the Carolina Hurricanes and Chicago Wolves are back on again in their affiliation, as both teams have announced an affiliation agreement through the 2026-27 season.

Previously paired from the 2020-21 through the 2022-23 season, the Wolves and Hurricanes reached a rocky point in their affiliation, resulting in the Wolves deciding to go through the 2023-24 season on their own. The two teams would eventually start working together again, as some Hurricanes AHL players would still end up with the Wolves, but Chicago was considered an independent team for the season.

With the year alone, the Wolves ended up at the bottom of the AHL standings, ending with a 25-37-7-7 record. The move now brings the 32 NHL team back to 32 affiliations within the AHL.

Per reporting from Inside AHL Hockey and Tony Androckitis, the agreement includes additional one-year options that can take the affiliation through 2028-29 season.

The new affiliation agreement has been added to our Affiliation Guide as well.
