With the addition of the Rock Springs Grizzlies to the USPHL NCDC West, the Rock Springs Prospectors Facebook page has rebranded to their new identity as the Casper Roughnecks. Head coach Danny Randall remains with the team as they make the move to east Wyoming.
Casper was last home to the Casper Bobcats/Coyotes franchise that played in the WSHL from 2014 until the 2018-19 season. The WSHL franchise had success in its first couple seasons, making it to the Division Finals in its first season. The team began to struggle in its final years of existence, as it folded among the uncertainty surrounding the WSHL at the time.
With the addition of Casper to the ranks, we watch the possibility of Cheyenne, Wyoming – another former WSHL town – gaining a team. In April, the City of Cheyenne’s Facebook page noted that they had met with USPHL leaders about a possible franchise. No further updates have been noted as of yet.
