CAJHL Edmonton Eagles Disappear

The Canadian-American Junior Hockey League has appeared to lose a member weeks before most junior leagues are set to begin play, as the Edmonton Eagles have been removed from the CAJHL’s website.

The Eagles finished the CAJHL’s hybrid inaugural season last year in last place, finishing with a 9-26-2 record and closing out the season on a 10-game losing streak. Among the six-team league last season, the Eagles finished last in Goals For as well, with the second-worst goal differential in the league.

Edmonton’s folding was also seemingly confirmed by the GMHL’s Northern Alberta Tomahawks, who posted earlier in August that the Eagles were no longer sharing their building this season.

The loss of the Eagles puts the CAJHL down to five teams as they look to gain stability as a stand-alone league and heading into what will be their first full season, but with only a few weeks until when most would expect the league to start, they’ve also yet to publish a schedule.

Tend The Farm has received some reports of teams only securing 5-7 skaters so far as well, so it remains to be seen if the league will be able to continue on its own.
