Billings Blizzard Dropped By WPHL

In what was almost a formality at this point, the Western Professional Hockey League has announced that they have dropped any association with the Billings Blizzard hockey team going forward, as both groups had originally looked to operate together in the 2022-23 hockey season.

The news isn’t all that surprising as the ownership group of the Blizzard ran into financial issues earlier this year with their indoor football teams, the Billings Outlaws and Rapid City Marshalls, which eventually saw the ownership group removed by the league, and sold to new owners.

Reports indicated that Pick Six Entertainment had multiple unpaid bills and wages, including bounced checks to personnel, which resulted in the ownership group being removed by the Champions Indoor Football league.

Around the time of the football team news, the Billings Blizzard social medias went silent, and have been ever since. The WPHL announced that, “the Blizzard’s ownership group, Pick Six Ent., failed to comply with contractual obligations that would affiliate them with the Western Professional Hockey League.”

With the removal of the Blizzard, that leaves just a single team now for the WPHL, which they state will end up playing this season, despite previous reports that they would not begin play until the 2023-24 season.
