After months of determining the new nickname for the Idaho Falls USPHL team, the team announced June 9th that they have gone with the Spud Kings, releasing images of their logos as well.
The nickname wins out over the other two considered names in the Freedom Gliders and the Sturgeon.
“We wanted something uniquely ours, something we can own the brand of, kid friendly and most importantly representing Idaho Falls,” team president Kevin Greene told KIFI news.
The Spud Kings will join the USPHL’s Mountain Division for the 2022-23 season, after it was initially reported locally the team was attempting to enter the NA3HL before announcing they had joined the USPHL.
