Rock Springs Prospectors Join USPHL Premier

The United States Premier Hockey League announced the addition of five teams and the Northwest Division, starting in the 2022-23 season. Of the five teams is one brand-new team, as the Rock Springs Prospectors were announced.

The Prospectors are owned by David Imonti, Jeff Pfleegor, and Joe D’Urso. Imonti is also the owner of the Vernal Oilers, who will be moving to the USPHL after playing last season the in Western States Hockey League, and the eventual Can-Am Junior Hockey League.

“The Rock Springs Prospectors were formed to be a travel partner with Vernal. We established that as a fan base that would be interested in having a team at this level,” stated Imonti, regarding the formation of the Prospectors.

This will be Rock Springs’ first foray into junior hockey, but has been home to the Rock Springs Amateur and Men’s hockey associations, hosting the annual Bud Cup. This past iteration of the Bud Cup saw 16 teams from Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Washington, and Nebraska.

The Prospectors will be playing out of the Family Recreation Center Ice Arena in Rock Springs.
