Game 1 between the Wichita Falls Warriors and New Mexico Ice Wolves was certainly one of the most eventful games of the first round, as the teams traded the lead multiple times, with the Warriors eventually earning the win.
New Mexico opened the scoring from Evan Carroll on the power play at 5:53 of the first period, but the Warriors answered back a minute-and-a-half later with a two-goal run that spanned 0:34 and put Wichita Falls up by a 2-1 score. The Ice Wolves tied things up late in the first, as William Howard sent the game into the intermission with a 2-2 tie.
The second period continued the trend, as Ryan Robinson put the Warriors up by a 3-2 score, but the Ice Wolves quickly tied things back up with Dillan Bentley making it a 3-3 game, with the score holding into the third.
Mid-way through the final frame, Carter Korpi scored his first goal of the postseason, putting Wichita Falls up 4-3, and that would be enough, as the Warriors took Game 1 on the road.
Brandon Milberg earned the win in net, turning aside 42 saves in the game. Beni Halasz picked up the loss in net for the Ice Wolves, making 21 saves.
