The Aberdeen Wings mounted a third period comeback on Friday, as they stunned the Austin Grizzlies with a 4-2 win, and a 1-0 series lead.
Austin jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the contest with goals from Anthony Menghini and Alex Trombley, controlling the scoreboard into the third period.
Seamus Campbell led the Wings in the comeback, scoring twice in the span of 2:21, and tied the game at a 2-2 score early in the third period. Dominic Schimizzi scored what would be the eventual game-winner late at the 18:41 mark, but a late penalty by the Wings gave Austin a chance with the man-advantage and empty net.
With the 4-on-6 disadvantage however, Jacob Bosse secured the empty-net goal at 19:01, securing the 4-2 win for the Wings.
Anton Castro picked up the win in net for the Wings, stopping 14-of-16 shots faced. Klayton Knapp would take the loss, making 24 saves in the contest.
