2022 NAHL Robertson Cup Recap: Anchorage Takes Game 1 Over Springfield

The 2022 North American Hockey League Robertson Cup playoffs have kicked off as the Anchorage Wolverines and the Springfield Jr. Blues had the stage to themselves for day one of the playoffs.

A power play chance late in the first period allowed the Blues to get on the board first as Connor Smith picked up the first goal of the postseason to put Springfield up 1-0. An early second period opportunity for Anchorage ended up tying things up from the stick of Talon Sigurdson.

The 1-1 score would hold strong throughout most of the remaining competition, but as time began winding down, the Wolverines picked up the game-winning goal from Hunter Schmitz with just 3:05 left in the game, and secured the 1-0 series lead for Anchorage on the road.

Raythan Robbins picked up the win in net for the Wolverines, while Ethan Roberts made 28 saves in the losing side of the scoresheet. Game 2 picks up Friday night, along with the other seven series in the brackets.
