East Idaho Hockey has announced that their junior team will be joining the USPHL starting in the 2022-23 season, joining the Mountain Division and facing off against the likes of the Northern Colorado Eagles, Pueblo Bulls, and Utah Outliers.
The move comes after initial reports had the team joining the NA3HL as early as last season, when the team was first announced.
Earlier this month, the team announced the three finalists for their name-the-team contest, with the choices of Freedom Gliders, Spud Kings and Sturgeon.
The move continues to bolster the western footprint of the USPHL, after accepting nine teams from the WSHL in 2020. The league will also be adding the Bakersfield Roughnecks into the Pacific Division, starting in the 2022-23 season.
