Rochester Grizzlies Take NA3HL Fraser Cup

The Rochester Grizzlies have claimed the 2022 NA3HL Fraser Cup after shutting out the Granite City Lumberjacks with a 4-0 win in the Fraser Cup finals. Rochester’s four goals came from Luke Morrisette, Max Breon, Ben Oakland, and Adam Johnson, and a brick-wall performance by Zach Wiese with 29 saves in net.

After falling in the Fraser Cup final in 2020-21, the Grizzlies were determined for redemption this season as they held off the Central Division, and picked up their third-straight division title.

The Grizzlies swept the Wausau Cyclones in the first round, and then split their second round matchup against the Oregon Tradesmen to earn their trip to the Fraser Cup tournament.

Despite splitting their two qualifying games in pool play, falling to the Northeast Generals but picking up a win over the Gillette Wild, the Grizzlies were able to qualify for the semifinals. A win over the Helena Bighorns secured the Grizzlies spot in the finals.

The win marks the first Fraser Cup in franchise history. Prior to joining the NA3HL, the Rochester franchise had previously won six straight Bush Cups in the Minnesota Junior Hockey League from 2005-2010.
