FPHL Motor City Rockers Facebook Springs To Life

The summer of 2020 was a period of uncertainty in the minor leagues of professional hockey, as COVID-19 cancelled the majority of the previous seasons, and very little was known about what lay ahead in the coming season. In August 2020, the Federal Professional Hockey League looked to expand the league for the coming 2020-21 season, introducing the Motor City Rockers.

As we would come to find out, the FPHL would only end up being able to field four teams for the 2020-21 season, and the Rockers were put on the shelf.

At the time of the initial announcement, the team announced their first head coach would be former minor league player, Khalil Thomas. Thomas had spent the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons as an assistant with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits of the ECHL.

Since that time though, the team had been silent on social media – until this past week. Out of the blue, the team’s Facebook page began updating their page information, and included scrubs of posts from both the Facebook and Twitter handles.

While nothing official has been released or mentioned by the team or league, we may be seeing the FPHL expanding further into Michigan next season.
