The Billings Blizzard have announced their new head coach for the 2022-23 season, tabbing Eddie LaPera as the first head coach in the team’s history. The Blizzard were announced as a charter member of the Western Professional Hockey League in 2021.
Additionally, the Blizzard have released their logo and typeset, opting for the use of a yeti mascot.
LaPera joins the Blizzard as his first coaching stop with a professional team. In prior years, LaPera has assisted in local development camps in the Billings area, and was the head coach of the Billings High School hockey team in 2020-21.
LaPera’s playing career saw stops in both Billings and Helena for junior hockey, playing in the Northern Pacific Hockey League from 2007-09. Following his playing career, LaPera worked with the Billings Bulls as a Marketing Director during part of their tenure there.
The Blizzard released their logo as well, opting for a white and gray Yeti with red eyes brandishing a hockey stick above the name “Blizzard,” and will use a standalone Yeti head.
