UPDATE 11:00p CST 1/4/22: CAJHL Teams Release Official Announcement Regarding Move
UPDATE 6:24p CST 1/4/22: WSHL and CAJHL are separate entities. It appears the teams have left the WSHL and formed the new league.
The Western States Hockey League has seemingly rebranded itself in the new year as the Can-Am Junior Hockey League. While no official announcements have been made, the CAJHL website has gone live online, featuring the six teams of the WSHL, complete with stats, rosters, and schedule.
The lone post on the CAJHL website states the following: “Welcome to the Can-Am Junior Hockey League. This league is a Tier 2 Junior A Hockey League and is beginning operations January 01, 2022. 6 Founding members teams – 5 Canadian, 1 USA. More teams to be added for the 2022/23 Season. Stay tuned for further announcements.”
At the time of writing, there are multiple dates with teams double-booked as they are re-working the schedule to include the Vernal Oilers games against the Canadian teams.
A “whois” search of the CAHJL.com domain shows that the website was registered on December 16th, 2021, placing it just prior to the WSHL Showcase. Outside of the Teams page, not much additional information is added onto the website as of yet. The “Staff” page for the site lists only the “League Administrator” with a league email address.
