Vernal Oilers Look To Continue With WSHL Provincial Division

With the news that the Western States Hockey League would be placing the Northwest Division in dormancy on Friday, questions began popping up regarding some of those teams attempting to continue on by playing the WSHL’s Canadian teams in the Provincial division.

The Bellingham Blazers put out on their social media that they were committed to playing this season, and was seeking league approval to continue playing. It appears another US-based team will be continuing as well.

As the WSHL made changes to their website to reflect the dormancy, one team was left and placed in the Provincial division in the Vernal Oilers.

If both Vernal and Bellingham are able to make the transition, it will definitely help the league as a whole, and provide a US-based duo for the schedule.

It will be interesting to see how the schedule shakes out regarding road trips for the Oilers, and how they work out the road games for the Canadian teams as well.
