The Western States Hockey League has officially confirmed the dormancy of the Northwest Division for the 2021-22 season. The news comes after multiple game reschedules and cancelations, including the closure of the Utah Altitude after only one game.
The dormancy comes after only one official game was played in the division between the Altitude and Vernal Oilers.
We previously mentioned that Vernal would be playing an exhibition series against a men’s semi-professional team this weekend, but it remains to be seen if that still takes place. Seattle’s and Bellingham’s single game that was scheduled to help make up lost games was also cancelled.
Some of the players will likely be sent up to the Canadian teams to help shore up rosters even more, though the Canadian teams have seemed to be doing pretty well in that regard compared to the US teams.
Seattle has retweeted the league’s announcement surrounding the dormancy. We’ll continue monitoring for any news regarding the individual teams and any possible future plans.
