Reschedules Already Beginning To Appear On WSHL Schedule

As the Western States Hockey League looks to kick off their 2021-22 season on October 29th, and restart the league after a year’s dormancy last season, it appears the league’s opening weekend has already been affected by games being rescheduled.

The WSHL is a bit odd in that they have two different locations for their schedule, as one schedule is held on their main WSHL.org website (hosted by the league), while another version exists on WSHLStats.com (operated by their stats/timekeeping provider). The league initially released the schedule on their website, and featured three games on opening weekend. After the schedule was loaded onto the stats page however, that was cut to two games as the Seattle/Bellingham series is omitted.

We did reach out via Twitter to both teams to confirm if the reschedule has taken place, but neither has replied. One indication that the postponement is likely, is that neither team has been advertising the opening weekend as taking place, in what was going to be a home-and-home series for the two teams. We’ll continue monitoring, but it appears opening night in the WSHL will be limited to Canada as Barrhead takes on Hinton, and Edmonton takes on Cold Lake to kick off the season.

Unrelated to the league’s opening weekend, the Rogue Valley Royals have already announced that their home-opening weekend was postponed after being originally scheduled for November 12th and 13th against Seattle. The Royals are now set to begin the season November 15th in Utah for the start of a six-games-in-seven-day road trip.
