EHL’s Maine Eclipse Appear To Have Folded

The first casualty of the 2021-22 junior team season appears to have been found, as the Eastern Hockey League’s Maine Eclipse have been forfeiting multiple games, and reports from other outlets appear to indicate that the team has folded. Multiple players from the team have begun showing up on other rosters across different leagues as well.

The Eclipse joined the EHL in the 2020-21 season, mustering a 3-9-1 record in a shortened season, while the EHL Premier team went 3-7-0 in ten games. This season, the Eclipse started the first four games of the season, dropping all four while being outscored 3-37.

The suspension of the team includes both the EHL and EHL Premier sides as forfeitures began on September 24th. The Eclipse’s protected list still remains with USA Hockey, but players have begun moving to other leagues. Defenseman Gunner Vignaroli has appeared on the NA3HL’s Milwaukee Power roster, while forward Seth Keltamaki was announced as signing with the WSHL’s Vernal Oilers.
