The Oklahoma City Ice Hawks will have a new face behind the bench this season, as Chris Hille will take over as head coach from Josh Berge for the 2021-22 season. Neither the Ice Hawks or NA3HL have officially announced the move, but Hille’s Facebook page has updated to show his taking over as head coach of the team.
The move comes after OKC announced their name change from the Blazers to Ice Hawks, and had announced that Berge had signed a two-year extension with the team. No update has been made to the team’s website since that time however. During the NA3HL’s preview series this off-season, it mentioned the team’s coaching position as “TBD.”

Hille is no stranger to the Oklahoma City area, having played for the University of Central Oklahoma’s ACHA team during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. Prior to joining UCO, Hille played for Williston State College in North Dakota for multiple seasons.
At the time of this writing, the Ice Hawks are due to open their season on the road against the Texas Brahmas, after having their initial season opener against the Atlanta Capitals postponed from the first weekend of September.
