The Buffalo Jr. Sabres have announced that they will not be participating in the 2021-22 OJHL season, due to concerns with the US/Canada border closures in relation to COVID-19. As the OJHL released their season schedule for the season, Buffalo was left off the slate as they have gone dormant for the second straight season.
Buffalo is the lone US-based team within the OJHL, with the league’s remaining teams all in Ontario. Due to the uncertainty as it pertains to the US/Canada border closure, and whether teams would be able to cross throughout the season, the league and team have opted to have the team remain dormant this season.

Uncertainty still remains for the league, as Ontario has been one of the stricter provinces in relation to crowd sizes and gatherings for sporting events, so further changes may be forthcoming. The league is currently scheduled to open their season on October 1st.
