As the Western States Hockey League ramps back up, there may be a bit of a battleground brewing between the WSHL and the Greater Metro Hockey League, as the WSHL adds the Edmonton Eagles to the Provincial Division fold. On the GMHL side, the Northern Alberta Tomahawks enter their third season of play.
Where the potential battleground comes into play, both teams are advertising that they will be playing out of the Enoch Recreation Centre this season.
A similar situation began to play out in Cold Lake, Alberta prior to the 2018-19 season, but the GMHL’s Cold Lake Wings ultimately folded prior to the season beginning.

No schedules have been released for either team so far, but both have been very active with player signings this offseason. It will be interesting to see if one or both teams may have to split their season between multiple buildings, or if they’re able to co-exist throughout the season.
