On February 4th, 2021, the Western States Hockey League provided a release stating their intention to restart things in the 2021-22 season, and in turn, introduced a new expansion team in the Vancouver Devils. The team’s socials had various signs of life in the next few days, but then ultimately dropped off, and didn’t appear again until early June.
The Devils introduced their Associate Head Coach in Martin Hak, who is coming off of a 15-year career in the Czech minor leagues. Once again though, following that announcement, things have been mostly silent from the Vancouver socials.
A brief tweet appeared at the end of July that the team was still looking for players, but as of now, the team has no website and no one listed with the WSHL as a contact. With a goal of 16 teams for the league’s restart, and attempting to get a hold of the western Canadian footprint, time is certainly getting short.
