The Lake Tahoe area will be returning to the junior hockey landscape as the United States Premier Hockey League will be expanding the Pacific division with the Lake Tahoe Lakers.
The Lakers make their start after the area had previously seen the Tahoe Icemen and Lake Tahoe Blue teams from the Western States Hockey League. The Lake Tahoe Blue started out in 2013, before rebranding to the Tahoe Icemen in 2015. The Icemen continued for three years, before ultimately folding in 2018.

Part of an ownership group that also owns the USPHL’s Charlotte Rush and Charleston Colonials, the Lakers will provide a western presence for the ownership group, as the Pacific division grows to six teams this season.
Daniel Bogdan has been announced as the team’s first head coach, as he moves from a couple of stops in the NAHL with the Maine Nordiques and Kenai River Brown Bears.
