The Western States Hockey League will have a second expansion team within the state of Utah in the 2021-22 season, as the Utah Altitude will make their debut out of Kearns, Utah. Kearns is located on the west side of the Salt Lake City metro, and will play out of the Olympic Oval located in Kearns.
Joining the Vernal Oilers, the WSHL so far looks to have two teams back within Utah this season.
The Altitude will also provide the first bit of direct competition for the WSHL against the Salt Lake City-based Utah Outliers, who was part of the group that moved to the United States Premier Hockey League prior to the 2020-21 season.
No coaching staff or management have been announced as of yet for the Altitude.
