The Greater Metro Hockey League has announced they would be placing an expansion team at Repsol Place with the Edson Eagles.
The move comes shortly after the Western States Hockey League’s Edson Aeros announced they would be relocating due to their exclusive lease being terminated, and the Aeros making the move to Cold Lake for the 2021-22 season.

The Eagles announcement provides the GMHL with their seventh announced team for the 2021-22 season, after pushing through last season with four teams. No announcements have been made as of yet regarding a coach or management for the team.
Last season, the GMHL West was the only division within the GMHL that was able to play some semblance of a season, as COVID-related restrictions in Ontario and Quebec prevented the majority of the league to play.
